Guest 2.4children Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 Here`s one for you, about every third trip, after 5-10 mins of driving a strange smell like rotten eggs comes through the vents and lasts for about 5-10 mins. I`ve checked the water and oil levels, they are fine and I can`t see anything else untoward under the bonnet. Any ideas? The kids swear its not them and we don`t have a dog !!! bigdaddy Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 I am sure the catalic converter makes this smell ;) Quote
johnb80 Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 Try the drains from the aircon and drop some aircon sanitiser into the system. Regards - JB Quote

jac6960 Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 Hi i had this on mine and it was the windscreen wash water! You will need to flush it out with a hose pipe for a good 5 mins. Quote
teresa Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 nah iit wasnt a problem it was just the smell Quote
Guest 2.4children Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Thanks for the replies, and thanks jac6960 - it was the water in the washer bottle making that stink, gave it a good flush-out with hose for a few mins, just before the hose pipe ban came into force !! Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I had this recently, it happened when I mixed two brands of screen wash! I think they must have reacted with each other. Quote
carterc_ae Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I've had similar problems, but the smell was more like urine / ammonia. It also was the washer bottle, so after flushing out I dropped a sterilising tablet into it (the sort you get for sterilising baby bottles) - cost less than a pound from the chemist for a box that will last ages. Use the tablets sparingly and in a weak solution, otherwise you may stain or damage your paintwork (mine is fine and I've used them for some months now). Chris Quote
